Fall Weddings

I had the privilege of making a wedding cake for our good friends Mike and Lori. They picked a very simple and elegant design to help them celebrate their special day. 

Fresh flowers adorned their 3 tier, fondant covered cake. It was a gorgeous wedding and we wish them the best of luck!!

Another beautiful take on a fall wedding included both a wedding and three groom's cakes. Scroll work adorned these buttercream iced cakes and added a delicate touch to a lovely day.

How to Train Your Dragon

Recently, I was asked to make a cake for a brave 5 year old boy that featured the movie How to Train Your Dragon, especially Night Fury. Here is what I came up with:

A Spy's Life for Me

Recently I had the pleasure of making a cake for a former CIA agent. You know, a real life spy. In conjunction with Suzanne Harper and the ever-fabulous International Spy Museum, Mr. Earnest wrote The Real Spy's Guide to Becoming a Spy. You can check it out at the Spy Museum Store, on Amazon.com, at Barnes and Noble, and at other booksellers. Anyway, in celebration of another top notch educational endeavor, he celebrated with a cake.

 

The rich chocolate cake was filled with chocolate mousse and iced with chocolate buttercream, with a fondant replica of the book as decoration. My sources say the cake was enjoyed by all. No, I can't tell you who told me that. If I did, I'd have to kill you. Duh!

Keep your eyes open for new cake pictures in my galleries. Also, Valentine's Day is coming up along with some special V-Day hand decorated sugar cookies for your sweetheart. Stay tuned!

Happy New Year!

As the decade is winding down today and I make my final cake deliveries of 2009, I can't help but reflect on how good this year has been to me. I have been busy throughout that holidays, as everyone has, which has once again led me to neglect my website. I suppose one of my resolutions should be to update it more frequently!   

Here is what I have been up to:

 A ridiculously cute meerkat cake for one of the DC Divas. The DC Divas play tackle women's football in DC and they pretty much rock. Check them out here. This one was for 84 and her nickname is meerkat. Ack! I love it.

There were, however, more cookie orders than cakes. I offered hand decorated Christmas cookies this year, as well as buckeyes, pecan tassies, and jam thumbprint cookies just to see how well they would go over. They went over pretty well. There are plans in the works to offer hand decorated cookies year-round, so stay tuned.

I will be posting more cakes soon. They are for a surprise party and I don't want to ruin anything just in case the birthday boy is snooping. He was a spy, after all.

Cakes Galore!

June has been a busy month for CBC and there is nothing I like better! Check out my KettleBell cake, made for some of my favorite people at CrossFit Tyson's Corner. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, head on over to the gym and get a KettleBell workout of your own!

The cake even has chalk marks! Check out the real KettleBell to the left. Oh yeah, it is a toy they play with quite often.

Getting up close and person with the cake reveals that tiny bumper plates and KettleBells are all over the place!
